Community Projects (2022-2024)

At Memo's Art House, our vision has always been to create an inclusive craft community in Singapore that can be both supportive and fun.

Since 2022, we have been collaborating with our community partners as well as our local crochet and craft community to create meaningful projects together. We are always thankful for everyone's support in what we do, and we cannot wait to introduce more and more meaningful projects in the future!

September 2024: Memo's Art House Community Day

Community Speakers

Sharing about different crafts

We invited 5 speakers specializing in different crafts: Beading (@moshbeans), Macrame (@knoette.co), Crochet Designing (@loveit_hookit), Digital Art (@hellosleepymoon), Jewelry Making (@littlezenstudio) and Sewing (@catbagladycrafts)

They shared more about their craft journey, the skills involved, their challenges and how everyone can get started.

Craft Workshops

Trying out new crafts

Our community speakers also organized hands-on craft workshops for our participants to try out new crafts.

Everyone who participated got to immerse themselves in some therapeutic crafting and brought home all their lovely makes!

We are so happy seeing all the lovely projects and everyone having so much fun together!

September 2023: Lean on Me

"You are not alone"

public installation promoting metal well-being

In collaboration with People's Association and South West CDC, we partcipated in the community project "Lean on Me". The aim of the project was to promote mental well-being in the community.

Our installation at Ghim Moh Market, was titled "You are not alone". It features a giant tree hugger as well as many hearts on the ground, reminding everyone that they all deserve a hug and that they are never truly alone in what they might be going through.

Community Support to make it possible

bringing everyone together to make this a reality

To put this installation together, we had more than 50 volunteers come on board to help us to make all the parts to bring the project to life.

We also worked with community centres to teach members of the public how to crochet and contribute to the project.

Having everyone come on board together makes this project extra meaningful and truly embodies the meaning of not being alone. The project was installed at Ghim Moh Market and we received many positive feedback from the public about the installation, which is very heartwarming.

August 2022: Our Yarny Trees

Celebrating National Day

public installation for national day

In collaboration with Taman Jurong CC and Yarnbombing Singapore, we came together for "Our Yarny Trees" which features yarn bombing projects displayed along Jurong Lake Gardens.

An installation that brings people together

showing what makes singapore unique

Since the theme was for National Day, we decided to go with shades of red and pink for the base and got together members of the public to add appliques onto our base. More than 30 people contributed, from hearts, to merlions and even orchids.

Everyone contributed in their own way and the final piece was like no other.

This was our first community project and seeing everyone come together to contribute to making the project a success really made it very meaningful for us!
